Call to Action: Support Essential Disaster Preparedness Training in the Himalayas!

Urgent Need for Specialized SAR Team Training

  • Due to its geographical location, Nepal is prone to various natural disasters, from earthquakes to devastating avalanches and landslides. The April 25, 2015 earthquake was a sharp reminder of the country’s extreme vulnerability to seismic risk.  When disaster strikes, a quick and highly-specialized search and rescue (SAR) response is critical to saving lives. Our dedicated team is committed to providing this essential service, and we need your help to maintain and expand our tactical readiness.

Nepal is lacking Essential disaster preparedness training

    Our Expert SAR Team:

    • Personnel: 5 highly-trained Search and Rescue Dog Handlers.
    • SAR Dogs: 8 specialized dogs, expertly trained in both wilderness and urban search and rescue.
      • Experienced Core: 7 veteran dogs (2 expert Man-trailers and 5 Barking/Air Scenting Alert SAR Dogs).
      • The Future: 2 young, promising SAR dogs already advanced in training and ready for deployment.

    The Challenge: High-Altitude Readiness

To ensure our team can effectively respond to disasters across Nepal, especially in the treacherous high-altitude zones, we must train them in the exact conditions they will face.

Our Goal: To conduct 5 intensive training expeditions per year in the Himalayas, at elevations above 3,000 meters. This rigorous training is essential to keep our handlers and dogs in peak physical and tactical condition for life-saving missions.

    Training Focus:

    • Acclimation: Ensuring the entire team is physically prepared to operate effectively at high altitudes.
    • Terrain Mastery: Climbing and navigation training on challenging rock and mountain faces.
    • Mission First Aid: Advanced emergency medical training specific to remote and disaster environments.
    • Realistic Scenarios: Training in snow and avalanche zones in critical areas like Manang, Tilicho Lake, Machhapuchhre Base Camp, or Annapurna Base Camp.

💰 Funding Request: 10,000 Euros for Annual Himalayan Training

These are not simple training trips. They are 10-day-minimum, rugged, self-sufficient expeditions vital for national safety. We are seeking 10,000 Euros to cover the logistics for 5 annual trainings.

    Your Donation Covers Essential Logistics:

    Expense Category Details

Transport: Hiring specialized 4-wheel drive jeeps for the rough, off-road sections and fuel for getting the team and gear to the trailhead.
